Cricket Carnival

The Year 5/6s had a great day down at Lincoln University. The Cricket Carnival was all about participation and it was great to see so many children wanting to give this a go.

The children all represented Springston in a positive manner and I had lots of comments about how encouraging our experienced cricketers were towards those who had played very little cricket.

A special thank you to the parents who helped out. Once again, we could not have done this without you.

Springston School Triathlon: Friday 12 February 2016

Our school triathlon is scheduled for Friday 12 February. This notice gives important information about the running of the event. In event of wet weather this event will be cancelled.

The order of events will be Bike, Swim and Run and is held mainly on our school grounds. The emphasis for this school activity is on participation and enjoyment. Parents are most welcome to join us for this event.

This is approx timing for events:

12:30        Briefing - Middle and Senior Events

Sonic and Sprint

Senior/middle students will walk to domain with bikes. They will start the event by biking 2 or 3 laps of the Domain. They will then run back to school where they will finish with lengths in the pool and a last lap of the field. Children may compete as individuals or as a member of a team.            Bikes will be bought back to school for students to collect after the event.

2:00         Briefing – Junior Events (all individuals)

Stride Bike 1 1/2 laps, Swim/walk 1 length, Run 1 lap

Step Bike 1 lap, Swim/walk 1 lap, Run 1 lap
(these children will be supported by their buddy during this event)

Junior children will be biking on the school field. If junior children do not have a bike they are able to use a scooter and this will be round the black court area.

On the Day
If your child is competing as an individual or the biker in a team, they will need to bring their BIKE / SCOOTER to school in the morning of the triathlon. Bikes are stored next to the cricket nets in the morning of the event.

All bikers need to bring their HELMETS to class on Friday morning so they can be checked to see if they are fitted correctly.

If children are an individual or swimmer in the team they will need to also have their TOGS.

If you would like further information please ask your class teacher or Matt.

                          Many thanks

Matt Thomas

Welcome to 2016 - what you need to know!

Yippee, it is time to start a new year.
On Monday we meet the teachers and some of the members of our teams.

Remember:

  • Your stationery if possible
  • Your 2015 report and the thinking sheet that was with it
  • Pssst.... Alice is now called Mrs McCabe not Miss Keeling
  • Any questions for your teachers

Tuesday is when it all happens.
Here are a few reminders on what you'll need for the next few days:

  • Camp forms ASAP - this is essential
  • Swimming togs and towel in a bag
  • A school hat - or own hat if you need to find yours
  • All your stationery

Here is something you could get involved with... We'd love to see some photos of you there with the family! There are free sausages on offer.   :)
